Part 4: Information vs Vanity

An information blog is http://cookingwithamy.blogspot.com/ . I enjoy cooking and I found this info blog with recipes, and restaurants to try.
The ‘vanity’ blog I decided to use belongs to a friend of mine. Its his Myspace blog so I could not post it here. There are many personal things in it and knowing the author rather well, many of his posts mean a lot to me. Knowing him for, and what he’s been through in, the past 9 months makes his blog important to me. I take it even more to heart since the blog belongs to my boyfriends older brother. This type of blogging really does not support print journalism. It’s focus is on personal ideas and matters that only affect those who choose to read it. A good info. Blog must be informative and helpful about the topic. A blog about cooking that only talks about the food would not be a good example of an info. Blog. My friend’s blog is a perfect example of a vanity blog because it is about him. He does not complain about what he dislikes, what isn’t going right in his life, and what he wants to change. All of his posts tell stories of recent events in his life and how they’ve changed him. I wish you all knew him and could read his blogs because the thought and meaning that he puts into them is hard to describe here.
This research neither supports of un-supports my thesis. This type of blogging is different than that of a zine or an online newspaper. It is written for people of that specific interest to gain more incite into the topic.

Part 3: Online News

The Newsweek eZine is a digital magazine. It has articles and pictures where the blog has stories posted each day, they are more up to date than a magazine. The blog has up to date events. The first is about a shooting at a Delaware school last Friday. The Magazine is full of new from the past month. I think that the magazine is more professional because of its set up and credibility. Yet the blog was much easier to find. I preferred reading the blog because it was all set in front of me and split into dates, which gave a more accurate time frame. I still feel that a print magazine is more creditable than anything online because you know those are legitimate since anyone can get online and make fake news look like real news.I would give this form of internet information a 4 on supporting my thesis because it showed me what could be posted in a fake blog or news story that is not creditable. This just goes to show that blogging has greatly affected print journalism.

The first link talks about how you can have a successful business as an entrepreneur. It has hints and tips to make things easier for u and ways you can make more money.
The second gives information for running your own business and other people stories of theirs.
The blog site i found belongs to a lady with her own business. Her blog gives advice on how to get out of your job and start a business of your own.
Another way an entrepreneur could market themselves would be with banners on web sites, and word of mouth. Blogs are a good way of self promotion because they can be sent all over the world and can be and are linked to other people blogs. Blogs are an effective method of marketing because they are very accessible to anyone and blogging is a rapidly growing past time.
I feel that this blog strongly supports my thesis. Ive felt that blogging has changed media and that it is a great way to spread and share information.

About Me

Im Lauren, Im taking this class for the RTVF credit. Im a stage manager and work crew at COC and the Repertory East Playhouse in Newhall. (www.repeastplayhouse.org) Yes that was a plug for the theatre! Im a busy girl with my show opening on the 21st and im working a show at COC on the 15th, while going to school and working at Victoria's Secret. I have another blog on this site, its an art blog. Most people blog for something making it a good way to reach an audience. Since 1998 many journalists have began posting their own blogs.
